Customs and traditions of the Moldavians living within the Codru region

Codru (ancient Moldavian oak forest) – a green island filled with birds twittering around, but at the same time with quietness. Here, lost among the beech alleys, hidden from the stranger’s eyes, is the old Hirjauca Monastery. It is surrounded exclusively by whispering springs, ringing of bells and quietness.
The trip continues with the visit of “Casa Parinteasca” (the parents’ house). It offers the possibility to take a look at the old Moldavian customs and traditions. Here, we will have some traditional peasant food, typical for the Palanca village: “sarmalute”, “placinte la cuptor” and “friptura cu mamaliguta”. Of course, the dinner will be served along with the wonderful Moldavian home-made wine, as well as remarkable tea made of flowers collected directly from the garden.
At Hirjauca you will have a cordial welcome, in accordance with the old Moldavian tradition – with jam and very cold well water, with old Moldavian songs and dances.

Recommended to: amateurs of nature and old Moldavian traditions, as well as people interested in pilgrimage, open-air leisure and to gourmands.
